Contest Theme: Latino Life and Culture

Awards

  • Best In Show: $300 Cash Award to be presented at the 2012 Summit. Art will be featured on the 2012 Summit poster and tee shirts.
  • Works of Distinction Awards: 2 awards, $200 each to be presented at the 2012 Summit. Art will be in competition to be featured on the 2013 Summit poster and tee shirts.

Criteria

Art entries will be judged on the following:

  • Craftsmanship/Technique: The ability to create artwork that demonstrates deliberation and attention to detail; the development of artistic skill in using and controlling media and materials appropriately.
  • Composition/Design: Intentionally organizing art elements to create a unified artwork.
  • Creative Process/Innovation: The use of art knowledge and skills to solve problems and express ideas in unique and personal ways.
  • Communication: The ability to apply art knowledge and skills to express, identify, and evaluate ideas and/or feelings in visual images.
  • Theme: The degree to which the artwork addresses the contest theme, Latino life and culture.
